Mark and Clare Chester embarked on an exciting new chapter, trading their longtime family home in Sheen for a stunning new build apartment in Brentford, with tranquil views over the River Brent. Their new home is a beautifully curated space that reflects their lives, filled with art, furniture, family mementos, and treasured objects collected during their fascinating careers. Mark, a restaurateur, and Clare, a ballet dancer, share an appreciation for creativity, artistry, and exceptional craftsmanship.

With a shared passion for cooking, Clare an enthusiastic baker and Mark a culinary maestro and recipe collector, their kitchen needed to be both practical and beautiful. As the heart of their open plan living space, it had to harmonise with the vibrant and contemporary aesthetic of the apartment while providing a calm, inviting environment for family life.

H. Miller Bros designed and handcrafted a luxury handmade kitchen that perfectly balances elegance and functionality. An entire wall of the living area was transformed into a magnificent floor to ceiling composition in bespoke cherry cabinetry. The rich tone and natural grain of the timber bring warmth and depth to the space, setting the stage for lively gatherings and everyday cooking alike.

At the centre stands the true showpiece of the kitchen, a beautifully engineered mobile island. Built on heavy duty industrial castors and supported by a concealed reinforced frame, it adapts seamlessly to the flow of the home. Whether positioned against the cabinetry to open up space for entertaining or rotated to create a buffet counter, it embodies the perfect marriage of practicality and design.

Working closely with the H. Miller Bros team, Mark and Clare considered every detail to ensure the layout supported their cooking style and collection of cherished tools. A second tier of high level cabinetry was introduced, providing generous storage and lending the space a more intimate, cocooning atmosphere. Hidden within, a meticulously crafted pantry cabinet serves as a treasure trove of ingredients and family favourites, a delightful nod to their shared love of food.

The result is a bespoke contemporary kitchen that celebrates craftsmanship, family, and the joy of cooking. Combining refined design, natural materials, and thoughtful functionality, this cherry wood kitchen captures the essence of luxury handmade living, a warm, sociable space that frames the view beyond and brings daily pleasure to its owners.
