A classic design for a traditional home.
When designing for a period property, it’s really important to be sensitive to the existing building fabric, but also to make your own mark so as to differentiate between old and new. That’s exactly what we did in this project, with the kitchen sitting in a fantastic Victorian interior, complete with 12 foot ceilings and, original sash window boxes and mouldings and a pitch pine floor.
The majority of the cabinetry and kitchen island is in our favourite F+B off-white, called ‘School House’, as it was vital to avoid competing with the beautifully aged floor. However, details were picked up in Cherry, which has a similar colouring to pitch pine. This was used on the shelf above the backsplash, and in the open storage on the outside of the island.
The design was completed with a veined Carrara work surface and infinitely adjustable Encapsulight lighting.
